Get ready, elementary and middle school teachers! The Shadow Project is kicking off our 23rd year of the Goal Setting program in September 2025. We’re excited to expand our partnerships beyond special education teachers and classrooms to include English Language Development (ELD) teachers, school climate specialists, and attendance coaches.
The Shadow Project’s Goal Setting program is a structured emotional support system that sparks students’ internal motivation, sets high expectations, and builds confidence. It is specifically designed for building-level specialists supporting students with learning, attention, and behavior challenges. Goal Setting is not intended for whole-school implementation.

The magic of our program comes from our dedicated partner educators. They create a safe and celebratory space where students can be themselves while achieving their goals. As one of our partner educators shared:
“Students are celebrated for being who they are while still achieving their goals. It’s not something they always get in other classes.”
Goal Setting provides special education teachers with a structured emotional support system that sparks students’ internal motivation, sets high expectations, and builds confidence by engaging students in setting and meeting personally meaningful academic and social goals.
