Open Position: Program Coordinator – Reading Mentors
Part-time | 20 hours/week | September – June | Portland & East Multnomah County
Do you love working with kids and volunteers? Are you passionate about helping students who learn differently discover their strengths? The Shadow Project is looking for a Program Coordinator – Reading Mentors to make a meaningful difference in the lives of K–8 students.
In this role, you will:
- Support community volunteer reading mentors at partner schools.
- Build strong relationships with educators, students, and families
- Work one-on-one with students who struggle with reading, helping them gain skills and confidence.
- Help bring families together by staffing school and community events.
Schedule & Location
This is a part-time, non-exempt position (20 hours/week, September–June). Most of your time (about 85%) will be spent in person at our partner schools in Portland and East Multnomah County, with some remote work (about 15%). During peak seasons, you may spend additional time in schools.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $27–$28/hour
- 100% employer-paid premiums for employee medical, dental, and vision insurance

- Laptop and general office supplies provided
- $25/month remote work stipend
- Reimbursement for travel expenses between work sites
