The Shadow Project Book Drive

The Shadow Project Book Drive

Team up with us this May to help support students with learning challenges like autism, dyslexia, and ADHD.

Who: Your Bookstore & Patrons + The Shadow Project

We are a nonprofit organization that helps make school more accessible and engaging for children with learning challenges like dyslexia, ADHD, and autism.

How it works: Promote > Sell > Donate

Our education team has curated a list of books featuring disabled, neurodivergent, and BIPOC characters that students love.

Participating bookstores receive the list, in-store flyers, shelf talkers, and ready-to-use social media posts — everything you need to promote the drive at your bookstore in May. We recommend stocking books from the list so customers can find and purchase them easily.

When a patron buys a book and designates it as a donation to The Shadow Project, please keep it and set it aside. We will pick up any donated books at the end of the drive!

Why: Representation Matters

For many kids, reading doesn’t click until they find a character who looks or thinks like them. Our students have disabilities, are neurodivergent, or identify as BIPOC — and those books can be hard to find. The Book Drive is how we help change that — while supporting local bookstores and the authors writing these stories.
