The Shadow Project Book Drive
Team up with us this May to help support students with learning challenges like autism, dyslexia, and ADHD.
Who: Your Bookstore & Patrons + The Shadow Project
We are a nonprofit organization that helps make school more accessible and engaging for children with learning challenges like dyslexia, ADHD, and autism.
How it works: Promote > Sell > Donate
Our education team has curated a list of books featuring disabled, neurodivergent, and BIPOC characters that students love.
Participating bookstores receive the list, in-store flyers, shelf talkers, and ready-to-use social media posts — everything you need to promote the drive at your bookstore in May. We recommend stocking books from the list so customers can find and purchase them easily.
When a patron buys a book and designates it as a donation to The Shadow Project, please keep it and set it aside. We will pick up any donated books at the end of the drive!
Why: Representation Matters
For many kids, reading doesn’t click until they find a character who looks or thinks like them. Our students have disabilities, are neurodivergent, or identify as BIPOC. Too often, those books can be hard to find. The Book Drive is how we help change that, while supporting local bookstores and the authors writing these stories.
